It is with deep regret that following really poor audience numbers at Sizzlers since reopening in Feb 2008 we are to stop hosting our Thursday night jazz at The Quarter Bar.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of the people who came to support the club and for all the very kind words said to me over the last few weeks.

It is becoming harder and harder to host regular live music concerts in the current economic climate and I urge all lovers of live jazz and swing whether listeners or performers to support the local music scene whenever they can.

2008 Artist Description
1st May Henrik Linnemann

Dancing Peak to Peak

His new album is showcased tonight at Sizzlers with no doubt some of his other tunes we all know thrown in.
A simply fantastic musician of the highest order.

8th May Djangonauts

A night with a Parisian Air

In the red corner it's the other Hot Club de Sheffield throwing their weight behind Le Jazz French.
This time it features the Accordian played by the very lovely Piero Tucci and three other terribly capable purveyors of musical sounds.

15th May Blue Banana

Bend it Backwards

Rare outing for the Bananas. Performing material as diverse as it gets. John Naylor, Lead vocals, guitar. Ryan Taylor, Keys, Shaun Perry, Bass. Duncan Annible, Drums

22nd May Julie Edwards

Love from Leeds

Julie is a Leeds based singer who enjoys an enviable reputation in the world of Jazz. Not to be missed

29th May

Plinio Duorado

Spirit of Brazil

CopaCabana Delights

Drummer Plinio Duorado brings his real Latin American band to perform for us the music of the South Americas.
